Bishop Michael Marshall is President and co-Founder of the Awareness Foundation, and co-author of the Awareness Course. He became the Suffragan Bishop of Woolwich in 1975 where he remained until 1984. From 1984 to 1992 he was the founding Episcopal Director of the Anglican Institute in St Louis, Missouri. In 1992 Bishop Michael returned to the UK to lead the Springboard Initiative set up by the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Decade of Evangelism. He became Bishop in Residence at Holy Trinity Sloane Square in 1997, where he remained until 2007; during that time he revitalised Holy Trinity, turning it from an empty church into a beacon of preaching, teaching and outreach. He is also an accomplished concert pianist and author. For 2012, Bishop Michael is Interim Rector at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York.
The Revd Nadim Nassar is the Director and Co-Founder of the Awareness Foundation, and co-author of the Awareness Course.
Nadim is a member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland's Inter Faith Theological Advisory Group, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on International Religious Freedom, and he advises the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Nadim Nassar lectures, speaks and teaches in the Middle East, Europe and the US; he leads diocesan conferences in the US, UK and Hong Kong. He gives frequent public lectures for many organisations, including the Ismaili Centre, the Christian Muslim Forum and Near Neighbours. He has appeared many times on TV and Radio and the media around the world, including CNN, ANB, Premier Radio, Church Times, Church of England newspaper, Evening Standard (London), Metro International Press, Die Presse, Al Quds Al-Arabi, and he is often on both BBC TV & Radio. Nadim has contributed articles to Britain's Guardian and Daily Telegraph newspapers. He has been interviewed many times, including by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation.
He preaches at churches across London and the UK.
Nadim was born and raised in Lattakia, Syria. He studied theology at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War. After coming to the UK, he lectured in different universities in London, including the American Intercontinental University where he taught World Religions, and London Guildhall University where he developed their 'Faith and Citizenship' seminar. Nadim has taught adult formation courses in many churches in the Middle East, Europe, North America and the Far East. He leads diocesan conferences in the UK, US and Hong Kong, he gives frequent public lectures.
Huda Nassar has been Director for the Middle East since 2008. She is responsible for the development and implementation of all Awareness Foundation initiatives in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, assisted by a highly qualified group of consultants. Previously, Huda studied at Birmingham University where she earned her MA in Pastoral Theology.
Huda leads pilgrimages and delegations to Syria and she continues to develop our bridge-building work between the West and the Middle East. She gives talks and lectures at many conferences in the UK and the Middle East.
As Director for the Awareness Forum, Huda organises our conferences, lectures, roundtable discussions and events in the UK and the Middle East.
St.John Wright joined the Awareness Foundation in 2004. He is responsible for the day to day management of the Foundation, with special responsibility for the Foundation’s education programmes, including the development and distribution of the Awareness Course. He also manages this website. Since graduating in law in 1987, St.John has worked in media, film and education.
